Boating and quiet enjoyment on Ankeveense Plassen

Join the forest ranger on a boat trip through the clear waters of the Ankeveen Lakes! The boat trip offers you a unique opportunity to sail through a water world of narrow ditches and wide lakes. From the open boat, you have a clear view. Fun for adults and children. Watch and experience!

Landscape of the past
You sail through a unique, lively yet quiet nature area in the middle of the Randstad. The landscape was created by digging up peat. Where the peat was cut, sinkholes were created. Where the peat was laid out to dry, these are called legakkers. All this to extract peat. One of the most important fuels for centuries. The old pattern of the peat pits and legacies is still visible today! The boat guide will tell you all about it.

Special plants and bird species
Special aquatic plants grow in the water of the Ankeveense Plassen: pondweed, bladderwort and floating pondweed. Enjoy the flowering plants along the banks and smell freshly picked water mint along the way. In spring, the nature reserve is very attractive to many species of water and marsh birds. The reed warbler and the little warbler are faithful breeding guests. And with a bit of luck, the purple heron and black tern also show up.

Good to know

• With a minimum of 4 tickets sold, the tour will take place. With fewer participants, Natuurmonumenten will cancel the tour and you will get your money back.
• You sail in an open boat. Bring a jacket or rainwear, it may be chilly.
• Don't forget your binoculars and/or camera!
• Dogs are unfortunately not allowed.
