La Grande Bleue. Painters of the Mediterranean | Exhibition Singer Laren
Want to hold on to that late summer feeling for a while? Then be at Singer Laren these months for the exhibition 'La Grande Bleue'.
From around 1870, the Mediterranean coast exerted a great attraction on artists. On the southern French coast, they imagine themselves in an earthly paradise. There, in relative seclusion and under the influence of the intense light, sharp contours and bright colours of the Méditerranée, they also broke new ground artistically. Resulting in modern painting methods, a brighter use of colour and a distinct language of forms.
The exhibition focuses on Dutch artists and places them in the context of their French, Italian, Spanish and Belgian contemporaries and inspirers.
Featuring works by Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet, Kees van Dongen, Leo Gestel, Isaac Israels, Wim Schuhmacher, Jan Sluijters, Charley Toorop and Yves Klein.
- Every tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday until january 7th, 2024 from 10:00 to 17:00
