Step into Layered Realities. Photography and Collage and explore how contemporary artists reshape the way we see the world. This group exhibition brings together sixteen artists from across the globe, featuring both established names and emerging talents, some of whom are presented in the Netherlands for the first time.
Through a rich mix of photography, collage, video, installations, and textile works, the exhibition highlights how artists use visual layering to investigate today’s most relevant themes. Questions around identity, family history, and the overwhelming flow of images in modern life take center stage. By cutting, combining, and reimagining existing imagery, these artists create new narratives that challenge what we think we know.
Collage has a long history as a tool for critique and experimentation. Originally developed in the early twentieth century during times of political and social upheaval, it allowed artists to question dominant ideas and reflect on the rapidly changing world. In Layered Realities, this tradition continues in a contemporary context, showing how collage remains a powerful and flexible visual language.
The works on display invite you to look closer, think deeper, and discover unexpected connections. Each piece offers a different perspective, opening up new ways of understanding both personal and collective experiences. This exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art, visual storytelling, and fresh perspectives on the world around us.
