His extensive discography includes songs by Britten, Berkeley, Vaughan Williams, Butterworth, Schubert, and many others. In 2016, he received the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Singer of the Year Award, and in 2023, he sang at the coronation of King Charles III.

For this concert, he is joined by pianist Ernst Munneke, with whom he has shared a close musical partnership for many years. Their first collaboration dates back to 2004, during the premiere of After Life, the first opera by Michel van der Aa. In 202,2 they gave a highly praised recital in the Small Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This time, Williams comes to Hilversum for a special programme.

The concert centres on the love life and music of Clara Schumann and Robert Schumann. Their intense relationship, full of passion, creativity, and vulnerability, is reflected in songs that are both moving and deeply expressive. Through voice and piano, the programme offers an intimate portrait of their shared artistic world.
