Accompanied by a guide from Natuurmonumenten, you will walk around the fort grounds and learn all about the remarkable history of this place. There are three buildings on the grounds that together form Fort Kijkuit.
You will visit the powder magazine. Nowadays, this is an information point, but it used to have a completely different function. The same applies to the guardhouse. Now the office of the forest rangers, years ago it was where the troops stayed and worked in a different way. The third building is the casemate. This building has remained virtually unchanged and is, among other things, a sleeping place for bats.
During a guided tour of about half an hour, the forest ranger will tell you everything you want to know about the history and the various animals that live in and around the fort. Did you know, for example, that kingfishers fly around here?
After the tour, you can walk around the grounds on your own and visit the unmanned information point.
The tour lasts about half an hour and starts at random times between 12:00 and 16:00.
